Dr John Smith
MBBS MRCS FRACPDr John Smith is a Gastroenterologist and Endoscopist, and the founder of Precision Gastroenterology.
He completed his undergraduate medical degree from King’s College London in the UK, and is currently a member of both the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MRCS) and the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP).
Dr Asthana caters for both insured and uninsured patients in his private practice and has a public hospital appointment at The Royal Melbourne Hospital.
He has published multiple papers in peer-reviewed journals, textbook chapters and continues his research interests with a focus on training physicians using ultrasound in both inflammatory bowel disease and functional gut disorders. In particular, he believes in holistic medicine and has a passion for advocating and educating the public on digestive disease care.
Dr Asthana is the founding Chair for GENIUS (National Intestinal Ultrasound committee) & is the National founding and current chair for GESA (National Gastroenterology Society) Private Practice Network.
